Took the bike out a few days ago started right up warmed it up drove down the road and was accelerating geting ready to shift and as I was looking at the tach the bike seemed to cut out everything went black and came back on , at that time the bike let out a backfire from the exhaust.

In addition you may find yourself identifying small problems such as a loose connector, chafed wire, broken insulation etc and not go about (or have someone else go about at cost) replacing parts that do not need to be. The mechanic said that I may have to take it to a dealer for a down load , I cant affort the towing bills for this piece of crap. Had my bike towed to a local garage and they had it for a week said that they charged the battery and found a loose ground and adjusted the carb and checked everything out and was fine. Does anyone think the EHC is going I just replaced it last year when it was under warranty. FAT CAT DO YOU THINK THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM WITH IT NOT STARTING ? THE GARAGE I HAD IT AT JUMPED IT AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP FOR THEM THEY THEN CHARGED THE BATTERY AND IT RAN GREAT TILL THE BIKE SAT FOR A WEEK IN MY GARAGE then the problems started again. It is sounding more and more like a bad battery especially if they were able to start by jumping and then it ran great. By checking continuity, you are doing the same thing and making sure that the circuit is not opened or shorted and thus is allowing the voltage to flow properly.

I will let you know what I find. You will have less than a 100 bucks in both.
changed it out with harley pre 99 regulator and bike starts like a champ. Find a shop with a MC battery load tester.

Well I took your advice and changed out the plugs and jump started the bike , it started right up.

havent used the battery tender since.

I checked the volts on the battery and got 12 volts , and when it would turn over it was showing 8 volts.

Have you put any dioelectric grease on your spark plugs. I feel you may need a new battery.
