And the Spice Girls could never be boring anyway. I was pretty disappointed in just how overworked the record was, as well.

Timbaland did a good job producing most of it and I'm glad she's doing well on both U.

I kinda want to compare this to another dark, moody song with heavy production that kinda stays level but I love; Utada's "Animato".

:-p Just don't tell me you liked "Let My Hair Down". :-\ I didn't feel strongly about many of the tracks in either way. I doubt it'll be as awesome as this though. "This is Nelly on the mike and I'm feelin' a-ight.
:-p Anyway, you will hear no more talk of Nelly from me for a while. I'm kinda sad they broke up, and really pissed off that they didn't sell. She co-wrote all the songs on her album; our favorites Alicia Keys and John Legend have also given their magic to a couple of the tracks. Not a Timbaland track! And a Japan track only, this will not be on the US version. Overall, this album was pretty solid and consistent. No bad rapping from the girls (like I said, if that was Mel. Anyway, Fergie does NOT have that problem here and it's simply joyful to hear. release, except there are two extra songs on the Japan release. Nice kinda tropical sound to the music though; not a Timbaland track. Hopefully this album garners enough sales and Nelly has a big successful tour so Nevis can eat for a few lifetimes and Nelly can get back to giving something thoughtful and beautiful. She may have geodesic dome for sale talent, but she's not that great yet. Nothing makes me wanna tap my feet or even bob my head besides "No Hay Igual" and "Maneater" because the tracks are SO busy. 2) Wild Orchid- Wild Orchid: Fergie can sing.
I officially Do Not Get the Hype. They were just a little bit ahead of their time, sadly. For an album that was supposed to be "loose" and fun, "No Hay Igual" and "Maneater" are pretty much the only tracks I'd label "fun". These are songs like the kinda mellow song "The River", and the quieter "Love Will Wait". Everyone's heard it, so not much to say here.

It's pleasant to listen to though.
Fergie is definitely the Voice in the group, but all together, these 3 girls make an incredible sound. fm • John Mayer • Utada Hikaru • Neo Soul… (408)rnbOne More Chance by Michael Jackson • Samsonite Man by Alicia Keys • Maybe by Estelle…Play this tag station (154)soulRahsaan Patterson • Tell Me by Groove Theory • Overjoyed by Mary J. I was kinda hard on this song initially.
which tells me this may indeed be a critical success. Unlike the myriad of girl groups who came after them and rushed to the top of the charts singing bubblegum, (Spice Girls, Pussycat Dolls, Destiny's Child); these girls could actually sing; AND they can harmonize like nobody's business! Needless to say, I LOVE this album. And I never got around to buying that Spice Girls album.

Maybe I'll give Keyshia a shot as well. Nelly sings though! Nelly sings with the loudness too! And the track seems really busy for that. But the rest isn't bad! We've got some nice midtempo and slower songs. There will be one more after this though. Nothing on this album is bad, quite frankly. They don't even break-dance in their videos anymore. After that, we have "Te Busque". Oddly, they did it with very few gimmicks though. I don't think I heard much from Victoria Beckham here, and that's a good thing. Yes, this one sucks on its own merits (or lack of).

Not boring, as most of the songs are midtempo. If only they had released this album in 1999 instead of 1996.
Told ya this would be the oddest Mini-Reviews ever, but Fergie can sing her ass off. :-p So let me do my math thingy right quick and see if it passes the 3 mark. Two years and by then the Spice Girls and Britney Spears had changed the face of music and opened up what became one of the hugest markets out there.

These girls were sangin' that little song; even my mom liked it. Looking back at what I've written here, I may have been too hard on the album initially. You definitely have to move to this one.

They've got soul, they've got funk, they've got personality, charisma, and they've got jams! I feel stupid for not buying this way back when. She was horrible on "Love" IMO.

She performed something on an awards show and again, she made my mom stop and look.
I'm reacting to it much in the same way that I reacted to Gnarls Barkley's album. Sometimes it may lean into the boring, but it never stays there because of the voices and the personality! Really, really delightful album.
I was probably the first Fergie fan.

. No stupid references to Chanel bags or Gucci or anything to show how "down" and "hood" and fabulous they are. The heavy production distracts from Nelly's vocals. This is not "Fergie and the other 2 girls" (i. the Peas should have just stayed as b-boys who weren't that great at rapping but still made some good songs like "Joints & Jam".
They went "urban" in a pretty straightforward manner. Isn't that spice girls album too old? I think I bought it back in coin old price us 2000! It's old, I just never got around to hearing it before now.

"Glow" is up next; another Timbaland track.
Actually I believe it may be taking something from another Timbaland production: Ginuwine's "What's So Different", haha. Timbaland is heavy-handed with the production (as always) and Nelly's voice has never been the strongest. "Earn My Affections" is decent, as is "Gills and Tails".

And even stranger, the girls sound pretty good. 3 stars, one of the more interesting tracks. She slipped up and showed off once, way back when she first started. (I like "My Humps" too though it was blatant SATIRE, people!) This is not my first encounter with Wild Orchid, actually.

I gave "Holler" 4 stars because I have always loved that song, ha. The chorus is kinda annoyingly similar to the chorus on Paris Hilton's "Stars Are Blind" though. :-p Well this has sparked my interest in checking out Fergie's upcoming solo album, at least.

There was a female rapper or two, but I did not recognize them! And one of them was Melanie B. Nelly sings again! But that doesn't save this track for me.
Even with Alicia Keys singing back there and Krucial Keys on the track, Keyshia remains in the spotlight because she has something. Britney Spears- Break the Ice 5. "Somebody to Love"- another song where I was inspired to fast-forward through. The girls are actually working with their voices here, not trying to sing some overwrought ballad that their voices can't handle.

Party and Legend were very trip-hoppy in seattle acne dummy dummy fitness health job marketeconomics jobs fact, and that's not what she's doing here.

:-p Nelly just doesn't have the strongest voice to counter Timbaland's production.
Hey, that's good news, I guess. :-x I have to say, homie, that your intuitions about Loose were pretty much spot-on. Sounds like something I'd expect from no one but Anastacia. Great stuff if you love pop and you love people who can sing! 3) Spice Girls- Forever: I told ya this would be odd, but the Spice Girls are going to get a higher rating than Nelly Furtado, even after I rescinded and was kind towards her. Another jam is the delightfully funky "My Tambourine".

This was the only previously leaked song that I was really excited about. A LOT! But she's not ripping-off Gwen or No Doubt ¬¬ she had always sang that way, moron. And I am looking at things on their own merit too, remember. Log in to comment on this journal entry. It goes on for quite a long time though, and it leans to the dull side. And a tendency to dumb down music and not sing as well as you can (Jessica Simpson does this business ethics person policy too. Actually, under the star system, it gets a 3.
Check her album out! Even if you don't like "Love" or "I Should Have Cheated". I'm not even gonna compare it to past Furtado albums because it's different. That's the main "problem" with a lot of this album, in my opinion. :-p But really, it was Wild Orchid. I always say the Spice Girls is the group that introduced me to pop and made me pay attention to what white people were doing. Mariah Carey kinda has that problem too, and of course she grates sometimes, but Mariah can take her songs to another level and she knows how to pull back and reign it in, so she stays exciting in most of her power ballads.

I am not so sure that Nelly Furtado is a good muse for Timbaland.

They're nice, not big jams or anything.

In between this album and "My Humps" there was depression, drugs, bladder problems, and awful plastic surgery. Nelly's album is pretty dissapointing after "Maneater" and "No Hay Igual". I wouldn't have minded an album full of No Hay Iguals. There's no voice as big as Anastacia's here, but together, these girls make just as much noise as she does.
I guess I'll just pluck a cheap used copy off Ebay eventually.
Is this the collabo with the guy from Coldplay? Anyway, Nelly sings again, and the focus is definitely on Nelly. All the songs can't be as delightful as those, unfortunately.
:-p And Melanie C and Emma Bunton sound pretty damn decent. There was no market for 3 blonde women singing their behinds off on little pop numbers back then. I actually like Nelly's verse though.
